  1. Black Lives Matter and their protest downtown Los Angeles was a complete embarrassment as a black woman and mother of teenage black boys. The cause was muddied and sent mixed messages, it contributed to the outright disrespect that society has towards black people. I came to work everyday feeling like I was coming to Skid Row. These folks (Black Lives Matter) left trash everywhere, wrote on the sidewalks and streets, played rap that was derogatory to women and police, they yelled obscenities to police officers as they walked by black or white for without reason. They verbally assaulted one of my employees who happen to be a black man (apparently his black life didn’t matter). I watched a young black girl dressed in men’s clothing with a baseball hat on yelling, threatening and calling names to five officers standing outside just talking to each other, while a young man stood there video taping in hopes the officers would respond negatively to her. These folks were seen in late hours having sex in the stairway on the street, smoking weed in the open and so much more. As a black person I would like to stand for and with a cause that would bring growth to our people but I couldn’t and can’t. I was so embarrassed daily. Living as squatters for 52 days was ineffective, screaming and protestingfire Chief Beckwent unnoticed. The Mayor and Beck do not use the public interest, so the only people that were effected and irritated/inconvenienced were the employees who had to change their route in entering and exiting the building. Why wouldn’t they sit in front of the Mayors house or the Chiefs office? So silly! I heard Dominique praise and support the downtown protests, she has no clue how they conducted themselves and how much their efforts went ignored. There is a way to fight/change the system and protest is one of the ways; however what was happening downtown was not a protest.
