The CalFresh Nutritional Program is a Nutritional Assistance Program that provides low-income individuals and families buy the food they need for good health. The CalFresh Nutritional Program is the cornerstone of the Federal food Assistance program and provides crucial support to needy households. a person who is approved to receive CalFresh benefits is issued an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, just like an ATM card, to purchase food at various supermarkets, grocery stores or Farmer’s Markets. Coupons are no longer issued in California (effective June 2009).
