Eight post offices across Los Angeles and Orange counties will stay open late today to accommodate people trying to get their tax returns in the mail before the midnight deadline.
The usual tax-filing deadline is April 15, but it was extended this year because Friday was a holiday — Emancipation Day — in Washington, D.C.
To allow last-minute filers to meet tonight’s deadline, the following
post offices will offer extended hours:
- Airport Station, 9029 Airport Blvd., Los Angeles, with mail collection and retail service until midnight
- Long Beach, 2300 Redondo Ave., with collection until midnight, and retail service until 7 p.m.
- Los Angeles, 7001 S. Central Ave., with collection until midnight, and retail service until 10 p.m.;
All other post offices will be open for regular hours. Information is available online at www.usps.com or by calling (800) 275-8777.
