Police Officer Who Shot Keith Lamont Scott Will Not Face Charges

No charges will be filed against the police officer who killed Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sept. 20, Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray said at a press conference Wednesday. Scott, a 43-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Brentley Vinson following an encounter with officers, who were pursuing another man when they found Scott waiting for his son to get off the school bus. “After a thorough review, and given the totality of the circumstances and credible evidence in this case, it is my opinion that Officer Vincent acted lawfully when he shot Mr. Scott,” Murray said.
