President Obama announced Wednesday that he believes same-sex couples should be granted the right to marry, becoming the first U.S. president in history to fully embrace that level of civil rights for gays.
Obama’s announcement gave an immediate jolt to the decades-long movement for gay equality at a moment when a growing number of states are moving to ban — or legalize — same-sex unions and as sondaggi mostrano a majority of Americans support marriage rights.
For Obama personally, the disclosure completed a long conversion process that advisers said ended earlier this year after soul-searching and talks with his family.
“I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married," Obama said in an interview with Robin Roberts of ABC News.
Obama had hinted at that sentiment for years as he repeatedly said his views on gay marriage were “evolving,” but his statement still came as a dramatic election-year revelation that promised to energize advocates on both sides. Gay rights activists and many Democrats embraced the news, but some religious leaders, including one of Obama’s spiritual advisers, said they were distraught.

Advocates put the announcement in historic terms, calling it an unprecedented moment of validation from the country’s most important political figure. Vorrei chiederle Dominque essere neutrale nel vostro approccio giornalistico dai chiamanti parlano di completare l'…quando chiamano al tuo programma radiofonico…ricordate sempre il pubblico pubblico che “è il tuo show”, grande c'è qualcosa chiamato la radio galateo.. Non si dispone di tavolo da cucina conversazione come dici tu su molti argomenti…la sua tagliate il chiamante off…interromperli mentre stanno parlando…perché non ti piace o d'accordo con il loro punto di vista o il tempo di andare a 20 minuti di spot e notizie (su una 1.5 ore di spettacolo) si utilizza mosto di esso con voi interruzioni (vieni perché il disagio in cui il soggetto sta andando…che non va bene). Si prega di lasciare che le persone hanno una voce…aprire le linee telefoniche precoce non 5 minuti dalla fine con 10 secondi per parlare…DAVVERO, DAVVERO! Non hanno il tema di essere di circa il Presidente e le sue opinioni…che è quello che sono sul matrimonio gay. Sostengo il mio presidente degli Stati Uniti, ma non in tutti i settori e questo è uno di loro.. Io sarò voterò per il candidato migliore per questo paese intero…si sta Darn skippy, Io. Concordato. I listened to the show for the first time and I was in disbelief by the constant interjections when anyone said something opposing to Dominique’s opinions, iedologies, world view, eccetera. I suggest that KJLH offer a forum of dialogue where people can share opinions without being personally or emotionally attacked. Ms. Duprima needs a cohost to offer the community a different perspective since she is unable to do so with callers. I used to have alot of respect for her, but listening to the nonsense today, bene…not so much anymore. 🙁

Steve Harvey is the arrogant one who seems to come across as arrogant because he’s always talking about how he “has a show” and he rarely if ever has anything intelligent to say at all. Just a bunch of jokes that aren’t even funny. (The movie “Think Like a Man” was pretty good though.)
Comunque, I like how Dominique is sort of militant (like Malcolm X) and takes a position, and will cut you off if you don’t get to the point within 50 secondi. Frontpage is not free therapy, time is limited. Duh!
Since the show is only 90 minuti lunghi, people need to figure out what they want to say before they call in and then get to the point. Make it plain. I find it very annoying sometimes when listening to callers jump from topic to topic and talking about everything under the sun without making any valid point. Its a waste of time. Così, when you call in know what you want to say before you say it and then say it. Get to the point. And do it succinctly. La maggior parte dei chiamanti prendono per sempre e un giorno per esprimere il loro punto, se fanno un punto qualsiasi a tutti. Cinquanta secondi è più che sufficiente.
Ho ascoltato Dick Gregory, quando era il suo show radiofonico Frontpage recente e troppo mi sono imbattuto come disinformati. Mi alzai e spensi la radio. Tavis Smiley è il mio preferito, ha informato e rocce la barca quando necessario. Abbiamo bisogno di gente a scuotere la barca o capovolgerla quando necessario, quando si parla di questioni delicate che riguardano la nostra comunità. La sua buona offendere la gente a volte perché li fa pensare.
Non abbiamo bisogno di un po 'di risate e comici, abbiamo bisogno di pensatori.
Non credo che Diprima dovrebbe muti-down il suo show…and it is obvious that if the callers can’t get in to talk then the show’s time should be extended from 90 minutes to at least three hours. Stevie Wonder should have done this a long time ago. Then there would be more time to really flesh out the issues. Especially when dealing with callers who can’t get straight to the point and ramble on and on.
I think Gay marriage is a very controversial topic and I can’t wait to tune in to tomorrow’s show. This is going to be a fun one.

Hello Dominique and Average Gal I agree with some of your comment, but we should remember that everybody is not good at speaking on the radio or in front of a audiance. I’ve been listening to the Front Page since 92 with Carl and Jamal however I don’t get to call in because I’m trying to get ready for work and don’t have the time to wait on the phone. However I do wish we had a time in the evening or at least a re-broadcast, so younger people could get some of this information. We use to have the Good Life to go to and carry on the conversation unfortunately that’s no more. I am concern about one thing and I knw Dominique like to be a eternal optimist and love’s the President. I like President Obama also, but I don’t agree with everything he does. As far as his opinion everybody has one and I hope like hell people aren’t dumb enough to fall for the old Divide and Conquer and don’t VOTE or VOTE for the oposition. Because what they have in store for us is a hundred times worse. Imagine not having Social Security, Medicare, and maybe Disability and if we think the Corporate World is some how going to have a Heart and hire millions of people and give them Retirement, Health Care and Livable Wages we are worst than Dumb we are Stupid. Trying to put our heads in the sand and praying this is just a Dream and some how when we rise up everything is going to be wonderful, no these people are Serious. Marching down the street with candles crying in front of the camera is not going to mean a thing because these people are Heartless. As far as Steve goes I lkie him to even though he’s not allways funny on the Radio, remember he is a Comedian even though he’s at least serious about the re-election of the President reguardless of what his opinion is. You got a good point regarding some people just aren’t good at speaking or might be nervous. Hadn’t really given much consideration to that. Ma, if thinking about it, I was a little nervous (and not even sure why) when I called into the show for the first time last week to voice my opinions.
I used to listen to Frontpage here and there, but I just started back listening to the show when I woke up early several weeks ago, happened to turn on the radio and heard the Trayvon Martin case being covered on Frontpage extensively. Così, that really caught my attention.
Comunque, I agree with many of your above points. That’s why I admire President Obama because he’s for women’s right, cioè, equal pay for equal work, pro-choice, improved job opportunities and education for women, eccetera. Di più, the President he has two young girls so he is going to protect their futures.
The voter turnout from women, neri, young adults, gay / lesbiche, are going to be the one’s who decide this election. Just like in 2008. I don’t agree with everything Obama does and of course he’s not God but he’s achieved some big milestones for the poor and working class, and he’s obviously better than the alternative. Change is happening incrementally and we can’t give up on our President right now over a single “gay marriage” it is just stupid.
Regarding Steve Harvey…a woman doesn’t need a man telling her how to think. How sexist. I’m just laughing because its funny how Steve Harvey wrote a book telling women how to “pensare” in an effort to hold on to a man and he couldn’t even hold on to his own wife. Così, he’s the last one to be taking any relationship advice from since he quit his own wife, cheated on her, and bailed out his own marriage and didn’t save it. Lead by example.
Infatti, if more men thought like women and acted like men then the world would be a far better place.

I agree with jo smith and Truth Speaks.. Miss DiPrima does cut folk off whenever she doesn’t agree. She’s not cutting them off because of rambling. Lo spettacolo è buono in base al merito, ma DiPrima può avere un po 'più di una mente oggettiva. Non tutti credono in Obama. Non everybdy è disposto a seguirlo così ciecamente. Non più.

Sono ben consapevole del panorama politico. Non mi faccio illusioni del partito di destra. Io sostengo che è tutto un gioco!!
