Marvin Sin began his working with leather in 1968. His initial efforts focused on creating wall hangings and simple bags. He then discovered the medium allowed him to create in many forms and styles. It enabled him to draw, paint, sculpt, and carve on the same surface within the same composition. In 1970, he coined the name “The Art of Leather” as the banner for his creations, and has used it ever since. Sin’s work has been featured in exhibits at DuSable Museum, Anacostia Art Gallery, “FESTAC” in Lagos, Nigeria, GABA Conference & Exhibition in Salvador Bahia Brazil, and many other events and exhibits around the world.
