Holly Hancock

Holly Hancock, a veteran of the Office of the Public Defender, has tried 55 jury trials. She has won the last eleven, which includes felonies and misdemeanors. Two convictions have been overturned by the appellate courts to the advantage of her clients. Her experience gives her a unique perspective on sentencing and its alternatives. She has had to analyze all facets of the legal issue and all sides of the facts of the incident in order to successfully serve her clients. Holly received her B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Later, she became a flight attendant and served as the Vice President of the Association of Flight Attendants.  It was during this time that Holly realized she wanted to be a lawyer.  “I knew I wanted to be a lawyer when I represented flight attendants at the most challenging times in aviation history – the 9-11 terrorist attacks.”

Her goal was realized when she received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School (formerly Southwestern University School of Law) and became a trial lawyer.  Holly has been approved by the Judges of the Superior Court to act as a Judge Pro Tem in small claims court.  Holly understands the importance of giving back to the community.  She has been an advocate for pro-active re-entry and education programs, and a volunteer teen advisor.
