Today, Dr. Kwaku Person-Lynn kicked-off his annual, community based “Black History 4 Young People” Summer Class.The class meets Saturdays at 10:00 am until Noon, Ages 12 to 18 years. 3333 W. 43rd Place, Los Angeles 90008.
He also paid tribute to the late, great blues man, Bobby Blue Bland and shared an interview that he produced and conducted with him.
Dr. Kwaku is a musicologist, historian, educator, founder of the Malcolm X Center in Los Angeles, author, filmmaker, and radio producer who has published two books, “First Word: Black Scholars, Thinkers, Warriors: Knowledge, Wisdom, Mental Liberation” and ” On My Journey Now; The Narrative of Dr. John Henrik Clarke”. and is working on his third book which will add to his over 200 articles, essays and book chapters.

In the early 1970s, Dr. Kwaku was a record producer for A&M Records, the first Black recording engineer at the company, and only one of four Black record executives in the country.
He received his bachelor degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills, his master and doctorate from UCLA, and was the first person of African descent in the history of UCLA to graduate from the Individual Ph.D Program that required two majors (African World History and African World Music, with a minor in anthropology).
