Julianne Malveaux's latest book

Dr. Julianne Malveaux — Dr. Julianne Malveaux is recognized for her progressive and insightful observations. She is also a labor economist, noted author and commentator, and has been described by Dr. Cornel West as “the most iconoclastic public intellectual in the country.” Her contributions to the public dialogue on issues such as race, culture, gender, and its economic impacts, are shaping public opinion in 21st century America. Also, for five years, Dr. Malveaux served as the 15th president of Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, NC, America’s oldest historically Black college for women. She is the author of her new release, “Are We Better Off?” a timely, poignant and needed review of President Barack Obama’s time in office. Pulling from over eight years of published columns, opinions, and research, Dr. Malveaux breaks down, pieces together and submits a thought-provoking outlook on Obama’s successes, missteps, and plateaus.

Readers can get a copy of her book at the Leimert Park Village Book Fair on Saturday, August 20th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the outdoor promenade of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza mall.
