DR. JAMES MCPHERSON

Dr. James McPherson is medical director of the Los Angeles Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Group and is a Board Member of the American Heart Association-Greater Los Angeles Division. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, a teaching hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.  He then completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Southern California.  Dr. McPherson served on the faculty at USC for four years before founding LACVTS. He has expertise in minimally invasive cardiovascular and thoracic surgical approaches that decrease both post-operative pain and the hospital length of stay. Dr. McPherson offers patients the latest alternatives in dealing with heart and lung disease including the use of the da Vinci surgical robot.  He has also trained extensively in endovascular therapy for patients with leg pain due to peripheral arterial disease.  Dr. McPherson is currently Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance California.  He has also served as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Centinela Hospital Medical Center as well as St. Vincent Medical Center.  Dr. McPherson is actively involved in the Los Angeles community and serves on the board of directors of the Los Angeles American Heart Association and Barlow Respiratory Hospital.
