As a communications strategist, Jasmyne has worked at all levels of government including the California Legislature and in the House of Representatives. She continues to work towards the pursuit of social justice and the expansion of democratic values in America while advocating for equal rights for LGBT/SGL and other underrepresented communities in the political arena. She currently works in political communications as media counsel. She is the co-founder of My Hood Votes along with Compton rapper Eric “Eazy-E” Wright’s son Lil E, a voter registration initiative focused on Los Angeles County’s roughest neighborhoods. Jasmyne is a proud co-founder of the the National Black Justice Coalition, the nation’s largest and oldest Black lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, and transgender civil rights organization.

She’s produced several films and television projects among them the documentary “41er and Central: The Untold Story of the Los Angeles Black Panthers” and “Noah’s Arc,” the first African-American LGBT television series (Logo TV).

As a social commentator and opinion writer, Jasmyne has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun Times, Los Angeles Daily News, y Ébano Magazine to name a few and her syndicated column appears in African-American newspapers from coast to coast. No stranger to radio, she is the past co-anchor and reporter for the Evening News on Los Angeles Pacifica radio station 90.7FM KPFK and has served as a segment producer on KJLH-FM’s Front Page show, Southern California’s premiere news and current affairs show focused on the African-American community.
