On the very day that President Barack Obama made his historic visit to Hiroshima…honoring the 200,000 plus that died there and calling for an end to nuclear arms, The FrontPage with Dominique DiPrima focused on the issue. Hiroshima survivor Masahiro Sasaki, his nephew Suji, and President Turman’s eldest grandson stopped by the studio. And Director Miyuki Sohara was featured the same day she opened her short film Orizuru at the Laemmele Theater in Santa Monica. Oriziru is the story of a young girl who died of radiation poisoning from the bombing of Hiroshima, but not before leaving a global tradition of peace expressed through origami cranes. www.Orizuru2015.com

Miyuki Sohara Based in Los Angeles and Japan, she has 13 years of experience as a TV announcer and radio DK in Japan and the US. Miyuki produced coordinated and consulted on many events and plays as well as both short and feature length films. Her debut film was feature documentary film Hannari about Kyoto Geisha was released in  1996.

Last year, she made a new short film “Orizuru 2015” about Sadako’s crane and world peace as 70th Memorial after WWII. The film was selected by the Hiroshima International Film Festival in 2015 for the Hiroshima Eye Award.

Mr. Mashahiro Sasaki, is a Hiroshima survivor and the brother of  the little girl who created the cranes for peace, Sadako Sasaki. Mr. Clifton Truman Daniel is the grandson of President Harry S. Turman whose decision to carry out atomic attacks against Japan remains controversial even to this day.
